Primarily, DEAC focuses on activities in the following spheres:
— Residential visits of renowned artists, for a minimum of one month, during which the artists realize projects that ought to somehow refer to Montenegro, and after which the projects are to be publicly promoted (through exhibitions, concerts, literary events, theatrical plays, design events etc.);
— Artist’s residence in the Jugooceanija building in Kotor (Dukley Art Center – DAC), as a center of artistic activities and a driver of the development of creative industries. More than 40 ateliers are now at the disposal of artists from around the world – one third of whom are Montenegrin. In accordance with the idea of “Open doors day”, the ateliers, souvenir shops and creative workshops are open for public on Sundays. The residence is also host to final exhibitions by the residents, as well as other events, such as concerts, lectures etc.
• New landmarks: In line with the idea on the potential of the influence of culture on other social, especially economic spheres, DEAC organized two extraordinary festivals in May 2015, namely, the Dukley Music Fest and Open Sky Montenegro Street Theatre Festival, both of which were held in Budva, and both of which contributed to the early beginning of the tourist season in Budva. The festivals were well visited, and the number of tourist in Montenegro in the aforementioned period increased significantly. Along with other DEAC activities, these festivals contributed to Montenegro being practically the only country in Europe that marked an increase in the number of tourists from Russia, despite official Russian propaganda against Montenegro as a tourist destination. We now wish to repeat the idea and its success in October, with two new festivals – Festival of Street Music, and the Festival “The Age of Happiness”
